Material Practice

Racaana is a material art studio blurring the lines between object, craft, and light. We create lighting objects for living spaces that are meant to be experienced, lived with, and remembered.

Our practice begins with an appreciation for materials and the beauty of handwork. We work patiently, allowing each material to reveal its own character, history, and imperfections from hand-processed leather to the traces left by skilled hands. These qualities become part of the object, rather than something to conceal. We see material as a way to engage with the world, its histories, inherited knowledge, and contemporary questions. By bringing traditional processes into contemporary objects, we create pieces where material and making remain visible.

We believe luxury is not excess, but attention to material, detail, process, and skills worth preserving. At Racaana, material becomes memory, memory becomes light, and light becomes a way of seeing.
