Material Practice

RACAANA is a material art studio blurring the lines between object, craft, and light. We create lighting relics for contemporary spaces that are meant to be experienced, lived with, and remembered.

Our practice began with appreciation for the sheer beauty of hand-processed leather. We work patiently, allowing each piece to reveal its character, history, and the traces left by skilled hands. These qualities became part of the living archives collection. We see material as a way to engage with the world, its histories, inherited knowledge, and contemporary questions. By bringing traditional processes into contemporary objects, we create pieces where material and making remain visible. We believe luxury is not excess, but attention to material, detail, process, and skills worth preserving.

At RACAANA, material becomes memory, memory becomes light, and light becomes a way of seeing.
